Susana Elizabeth Acosta is a Master's student at the Hampton Roads campus pursuing her degree in Mechanical Engineering. She graduated from the University of Rochester in 2012 with a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering and began her studies at Virginia Tech in the fall of 2012. Currently, Susana is doing  research which revolves around the active control of jet noise. At the National Institute of Aerospace, she is also Chairman of the AIAA Student Chapter. She is completing her acoustics project alongside NASA mentors Noah Schiller and Michael Doty. On the side, Susana writes freelance articles for the Daily Press, a local newspaper in Hampton, runs long distance races, practices swimming, or attempts to train her puppy Julyan. This past March, she also got married to husband Jerrad Kuehne, who is serving his country in the United States Navy.
